María Candela se fracturó el nudo una semana antes de El Derby y ganó igual. A don Víctor no le gustaba Grosor por su cuello corto. Edipo Rey tenía un problema en un nudo y había que cuidarlo. Don Carlos me decía «cada vez que veo su número, usted me da malas noticias». Y uno tiene que dar las buenas también. Atendí a Wolf, que fue muy sano. Sólo una vez tuvo problemas en las corvas y fue emocionante cuando ganó el St. Leger. Además recuerdo a Cristalline, Loco Afán que era roncador, Peruvian Dancer que era muy sangrador y ahora último a Indy Noble. Pese a que Matancilla ganaba todo no tenía números azules, sólo cuando vendía un caballo al extranjero. La hípica es un hobbie caro, no un negocio. Si los haras tiran números, cierran todos. Hoy trabajo con Haras Matriarca. La profesión de Veterinario está poco respetada y opinan del caballo desde el cuidador hasta el primo del dueño. No es mi caso, pero se da. Cunde la automedicación y se vende sólo el 15% con receta. En el control antidoping estamos muy desinformados. Los caballos no corren más salvo con estimulantes. Un buen sistema tendría caballos y yeguas de cría más sanos» declaró en #RadioNacional114AM.
